THE INFLUENCE OF CLOUD COMPUTING ON INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Abstract: This study aimed to investigate the influence of cloud computing on information systems within organizations. The objectives were to analyze how cloud computing enhances scalability, improves data accessibility, and reduces IT infrastructure costs. A survey research design was employed to collect quantitative data from a sample of 200 respondents, selected using the Taro Yamane formula to ensure representation across various industries. The study focused on a case study of a technology startup in Port Harcourt, known for its reliance on cloud-based platforms for rapid scalability and cost-effective IT operations. Conducted in Port Harcourt, the reliability coefficient score was calculated at 0.89, indicating strong internal consistency of survey responses. The findings revealed that cloud computing adoption positively impacts information systems by enhancing flexibility, enabling remote access to critical data, and facilitating collaborative workflows. The study recommends that organizations leverage cloud computing technologies to streamline operations, enhance data security measures, and foster innovation in service delivery.
